How to crochet a Begonia

A plant with a thousand species that has always been loved and appreciated both for its original foliage and for its abundant and fragrant flowering.

Begonias are all native to the warm and humid areas of tropical forests.

To make the crochet Begonia you need to prepare 2 sections of petals, the pistil and the leaves which are of 2 different sizes.

Needed: cotton number 20 - 1.0 mm crochet hook - 0.45 mm galvanized iron wire - scissors - needle - plasticized iron wire - pliers.

Explanation of the section of small petals

Start 5 chains and in these make: 1 triple crochet, 2 double triple crochet, 2 triple crochet. Go down with slip stitches up to the first chain and make another petal.

Explanation of the middle section of petals

Start 4 chains and in the first make 6 double crochet (total 7). Turn the work.

1st round: 3 chains, 2 triple crochet, 3 triple crochet in one point, 2 triple crochet, 1 double crochet. Go down with slip stitches up to the first chain and make another petal.

Explanation of the pistil

To make the pistil, make a skein by wrapping the cotton on 2 fingers 12 times. Cut about 20 cm of galvanized iron wire (some even of 15). Fold the skein in half by placing it in the center of the iron wire, twist the iron wire around itself for about 2 cm to lock the skein and create the stem for joining the flower. Shape the pistil by cutting off the excess cotton.

Same procedure for the flowers with the smaller joining stem.

Insert the small section and the middle section into the stem joining the pistil and cover it with cotton by working the chains around it. Fasten the twigs together by twisting the wire 2-3 times, each time cutting the extra wire. There will be only 2 pieces left which will be used to tie the flower to the stem.

Make all the flowers you need for your composition.

Explanation of the large leaf

Start 20 chains. Cut a piece of galvanized iron wire that goes around the complete circle of the chains plus about 3-4 cm more on each side and join it by working 19 single crochet on one side and 19 single crochet on the other.

1st round: 1 single crochet and 2 half double crochet in one point, 1 double crochet and 2 triple crochet in one point, 2 double triple crochet in one point 3 times, 2 triple triple crochet in one point 3 times, 2 double triple crochet in one point 3 times, 2 triple crochet, 2 double crochet, 2 half double crochet, 2 single crochet. Repeat the same on the other side of the chains in reverse.

Stretch the leaf well and twist the wire around itself for about 1 cm. Cover the connecting stem of the leaf with cotton by working the chains around it.

Make all the leaves you need for your composition.

Explanation of the middle leaf

Start 16 chains. Cut a piece of galvanized iron wire that goes around the full circle of the chains plus about 3 cm more on each side and join it to them by working around 15 single crochet on one side and 15 single crochet on the other.

1st round: 1 single crochet and 1 half double crochet one point, 1 double crochet and 1 triple crochet in one point, 2 double triple crochet in one point 5 times, 2 triple crochet, 2 double crochet, 2 half crochet high, 2 single crochet. Repeat the same on the other side in reverse.

Stretch the leaf well and twist the wire around itself for about 1 cm. Cover the connecting stem of the leaf with cotton by working the chains around it.

Make 2 medium leaves per stem.

Cut a piece of plasticized iron wire of the appropriate length and thickness for the work being carried out. Using pliers, bend a tip twice to form a knot.

Immediately under the knot tie the 2 medium leaves. Then fasten the bunch of flowers and, spacing them about 1 cm, fasten the large leaves along the entire length of the stem.

Cover the stem with cotton by working the chains around it, except about 3 cm that will be inserted into the vase.

To cover the knot at the top of the stem make a small dome: start 4 chains and in the first make 9 double crochet (total 10). Place it over the knot and sew it to the stem.

For this composition were made 3 stems with 6 large leaves, 2 medium leaves and a bunch of 3 flowers each.

Of course it can be modified and customized by varying the color tone and the quantity of flowers and leaves.

As always I hope I was clear in the explanation.

Hello everyone to the next creation.
