How to crochet a Lily
A wonderful flower that nature gives us and loves any garden. Known since antiquity for its majestic stem and for the candy flower which has the meaning of purity. However, there are many different varieties with many different colors each with their own meaning.
I made this composition of lilies to make a special gift and I followed my inspiration of the moment. You naturally are free to act as your imagination suggests and in the variety of colors that you prefer and instead of arranging them as I did I am in a pot as a plant, you can create a bunch of lilies like cut flowers or even just one. This creation is also composed of various pieces to be assembled together.
Each lily consists of 6 petals, 3 pistils and 3.4, or 5 pairs of leaves (depends on the length of the stem).
Needs: cotton number 20 - crochet 1.0 mm - scissors - needle - galvanized iron wire 0.45mm - plasticized iron wire - fishing line - pliers.
Explanation of the petal
1 lap: 3 single crochet, 3 half double crochet, 3 double crochet, 11 triple crochet, 3 double crochet, 3 half double crochet, 3 single crochet.
Return as equal to the other side.
2 lap: equal to the first lap plus 3 increases in triple crochet.
3 turn: Cut the galvanized iron wire length of the leaf more than 2 cm into it by working around the single crochet.
Wear well to give it the right shape.
Twist some iron wire to close the work.
In total, make 6 equal petals.
Explanation of the pistil
Take the fishing tackle (possibly not colored) cut it about 15 cm, put it on the index and keep it with your thumb working over 25 single crochet.
At the last single crochet, make 5 double crochet pairs closed together (always keep the line in place)
Close the pistil with 2/3 slip stitch.
You have to make 3 pistils for sewing lily inside the flower at the base of the petal.
Now you can also dial the flower.
Sew to their base 3 petals giving the right shape.
Then sew the other 3 petals alternating with the underlying ones to create the shape of the lily.
Explanation of the chalice
1 lap: 15 double crochet.
2 laps: 25 double crochet.
3 lap: 25 double crochet with a pair of 2 chains every 2 points.
Explanation of the bud
To give more realism to my composition I have also inserted buds and if you are following my line is very easy to do. It consists of 3 petals joined by a seam at the base and then sewn to the petal spot (to create the semicircular shape)
Explanation of the leaf.
Start 35 chains and make:
1 lap: 3 single crochet, 3 half double crochet, 3 double crochet, 16 triple crochet, 3 double crochet, 3 half double crochet, 3 single crochet.
Repeat the same on the other side.
Cut the iron wire length needed to make a 2-leaf lap more than 2 cm to twist it to the stem, now work around the single crochet.
Repeat the same as the other leaf.
Now that you've done everything you assembled the flower.
First, cut off the lengthened plastic wire that you need and bend 2 times (help with a clamp) a pin of the stem in a pinhole manner. Now insert the flower and make sure the bent stem holds it firmly. Insert the cup and sew, attach the leaves by twisting the iron wire that you left in the stem. Then, starting from the chalice, work the chains around the stem to cover it with cotton. When you reach the end of the stem, bend it slightly with the clamps to lock the work.
Make all the lilies you need and in all the colors your fantasy suggests. I hope I have been clear in the explanations and have given you an extra idea to replicate the beauty of mother nature.
Good for everyone and next bye!
