How to crochet a Freesia

Spring is its season and what makes the freshness a special flower is its intense and inebriating scent. A native flower of South Africa which in its spontaneous form is yellow. For a long time considered a flower symbol of mystery it is said that it can attract in our garden fairies, water lilies and elves.
I created this delicate crocheted flower that is composed of: flowers, big, medium and small buds, chalices, pistils, stems and leaves of two different sizes, and since they were very similar I have taken those of the gladiolus.

Needed: cotton number 20 and number 10 - crochet 1.0mm - scissors - galvanized iron wire 0.45mm - plasticized iron wire - pliers.

Explanation of the flower.

Start 4 chains and in the first make 7 double crochet (total 8)
· 1 lap: 9 double crochet.
· 2 laps: 10 double crochet.
· 3 laps: 11 double crochet.
· 4 laps: 12 double crochet.
· 5 laps: 2 double crochet at one point for 2 times, run the job.
· 6 lap: a half double crochet and a double crochet at one point, a double crochet and a triple crochet at one point, a triple crochet and a double crochet at one point, a double crochet and a half double crochet in a point, turn the job.
· 7 laps: a single crochet and a half double crochet at one point, 2 double crochet at one point, 2 double crochet at one point, a triple crochet and a double triple crochet at one point, a double triple crochet and a triple crochet at one point, 2 triple crochet at one point, 2 double crochet at one point, half double crochet and a single crochet at one point.
Get off with a slip stitch until the beginning of the petal and resemble the same for a total of 6 petals.

Explanation of the big bud.

The procedure and even the points are equal to the explanation of the flower only changes the 5 lap where instead of "2 double crochet at a point for 2 times" you will have to make 4 double crochet. In total there will be 3 petals instead of 6.

Explanation of the middle bud.

Start 4 chains and in the first do 7 double crochet total 8.
· 1 and 2 laps: 8 double crochet.
· 3.4.5 lap: equal to 5.6 and 7 rounds of the middle bud (we have to make 2 equal petals).
Explanation of small bud.

Start 4 chains and in the first do 7 double crochet total 8.
· 1 lap: 8 double crochet.
· 2 laps: 12 double crochet (make 4 increases).
· 3 laps: 2 double crochet closed together for the whole lap.
· 4 laps: 1-2 slip stitch to close.

Explanation of the pistil.

Start 12 chains.
Cut a piece of galvanized iron wire that makes the chains 2 times more than 2 cm around the side and insert it into the work by doing 11 single crochet. Then make 4 chains and in these make 3 single crochet, a slip stitch in the eleventh single crochet. Repeat the same for a total of 3 times, work the other 11 single crochet on the other side of the chains. Twist the iron wire about 2-3 times and close the work. Fit the edges of the pistil when the cotton stops.

Explanation of the chalice.

Start 4 chains and in the first do 9 double crochet (total 10).
· 1 and 2 laps: 10 double crochet.
· 3 laps: 1 single crochet, one half double crochet and one double crochet at one point, two triple crochet in one point, one double crochet and one half double crochet at one point, one slip stitch. Repeat equal another time.

Explanation of the small green bud.

Start 4 chains and in the first do 9 double crochet (total 10).
· 1 lap: 10 double crochet.
· 2 laps: 2 double crochet closed together for the whole lap.
· 3 laps: 1-2 slip stitch to close.
Cut a piece of plasticized wire of the length needed to make the stem of the freezer and bend it twice (help with a caliper) to form a small nodule. In this tip insert a small green bud close before closing the second round and then close normally with the small nod of the stem inside. Insert the pistil into the flower and then into the chalice and fasten it to the stem by the galvanized iron wire. The small green bud, the small and the medium bud need no pistil, so the galvanized iron wire will be inserted in the firsts double crochet of the buds. Twist it 2-3 times on itself, insert it into the chalice and then fasten it to the stem, same work for the big bud. When you put all the flowers and buds on the stem this will be covered with cotton, working around the chains, once over and under the stem. Once bowed, the stem at the height of the first flower is bent and if the petals need to be bent.
Now let alone prepare the leaves that, as I said before, being very similar, are the same ones I had made for the gladiolus and I am the big one and the average one for which I used the cotton number 10, for the rest the cotton is always the number 20.

Explanation of the large leaf.

Start 71 chains, insert the galvanized iron wire (cut twice the length of the chains plus another 10 cm) to work around the lower points on one side or the other on the chains.
1 lap: 25 triple crochet, 15 double crochet, 10 half double crochet, 10 single crochet, 10 slip stitch, working the same on the other side obviously from the slip stitch.
Close the work and twist the remaining wire of iron for about 3 cm to form a small stem that will then allow the leaf to enter into the jar.

Explanation of the medium leaf.

The procedure is identical to the large leaf only changes the points that will be: 51 chains, the single crochet around the iron wire and then do: 15 triple crochet, 10 double crochet, 10 half double crochet, 10 single crochet, 5 slip stitch .
Insert the leaves around the freezer and admire your masterpiece, missing their unparalleled perfume.

With your imagination and inspiration you can of course change the color and add or remove more flowers or buds. I hope as always that I have explained everything to the best and wish a good creation. Hi everyone to the next.
