How to crochet a Periwinkle crochet

A plant that naturally occurs spontaneously along the roadsides or in the undergrowth to form pretty colored mats. The periwinkle has indeed a great decorative impact during its abundant flowering. I love his sky-colored flowers.

To make the crochet periwinkle it is necessary to prepare: the flower, the bud, the chalice and the leaves.

Needed: cotton number 20 - crochet 1.0 mm - scissors - galvanized iron wire 0.45 mm - wadding - plasticized iron wire - pliers.

Explanation of the flower

Start 4 little chains and in the first step: 9 points high (total 10).

1st round: 10 double crochet.

2nd round: 15 double crochet (make an increase every 2 points).

3rd round: 15 double crochet.

4th round: 1 double crochet, 3 triple crochet in a point, 1 double crochet. Turn the job.

5th round: 1 double crochet, 2 high points double in one point, 3 high points triple in one point, 2 triple crochet in one point, 1 double crochet. Turn the job.

6th round: 1 double crochet, 2 double crochet in a point, 1 triple crochet, 2 triple crochet in one point, 3 double triple crochet in one point, 2 triple crochet in one point, 1 triple crochet, 2 double crochet at a point, 1 double crochet. Go down with slip stitch until the beginning of the petal and make a slip stitch. Repeat equal a total of 5 times.

Explanation of the bud

There are buds that will be inserted in the top of the main stem and buds that will be connected laterally through a small stem. The explanation of the bud is the same for both types.

Start 4 little chains and in the first step: 9 double crochet (total 10).

1st round: 10 double crochet.

2nd round: 15 double crochet (make an increase every 2 points). Keep the job outstanding.

For the main stem cut a piece of plasticized iron wire of the appropriate length and thickness. On a point wrap a bit 'of cotton wool and using a plier to bend it twice to lock the wadding. Insert the stem inside the bud.

For the bud to be tied laterally cut 8 cm of galvanized iron wire, in the middle wrap a little 'cotton and twist it on itself to lock the wadding and create the small stem of about 2 cm that will be connected to the main stem.

In both cases continue with the same explanation.

3rd and 4th round: 2 double crochet closed together for the whole lap.

Lap 5: 1-2 slip stitch and close the work.

Explanation of the glass

The glass is the same for both the flower and the bud.

Start 4 little chains and in the first step: 9 double crochet (total 10).

1 lap: 5 little chains and in these: 2 single crochet, 2 half double crochet, skip a base point, 1 slip stitch. Repeat equal a total of 5 times.

Explanation of the leaf

The leaves are coupled to two by wire.

Start 20 little chains.

1st round: 4 single crochet, 3 half double crochet, 5 double crochet, 3 half double crochet, 4 single crochet. Repeat same to the other side of the chains.

2nd round: 4 single crochet, 4 half double crochet, 2 double crochet, 3 double crochet in one point, 2 double crochet, 3 half double crochet, 4 single crochet, repeat same on the other side.

Cut a piece of galvanized iron wire that makes the complete turn of the leaf twice more than about 2 cm on each side and add it to it by working a round of single crochet.

Tighten the leaf well by shaping it with your hands and twisting the wire on itself 2-3 times to lock the work. Without cutting the cotton, redo another identical leaf. Go down half leaf with slip stitch  to get to the wire and work around the single crochet. Close the job.

The extra wire will be used to tie the leaf to the main stem.

To create the small stem of the flower, which will be tied to the main stem, cut about 8 cm of galvanized iron wire and at the center wrap a little yellow cotton to form a small ball that will be the pistil of the flower. Twist the iron wire around itself for about 2 cm to create the stem of the flower.

Insert the glass and cover the stem with the cotton working around the chains.

For the buds the same procedure: insert the glass and cover with cotton.

Insert the glass in the bud of the main stem, fasten all the flowers, the buds and the leaves and cover it with the cotton, working around the chains, except for about 3 cm that will be inserted into the vase.

Shape it all with your hands and insert the stems into the vase, the highest ones in the center and the others around in descending order.
