How to crochet a Cisto
I remember a passage of a beautiful poem dedicated to the Sardinian people, where Grazia Deledda mentioned this flower. I love the resinous aroma of this plant that grows in arid and untouched places, along sunny skies and swept by the maestrale. A flower with
tissue paper petals
tissue paper petals
which last only one day. I liked the idea of recreating this crocheted flower and now I have the pleasure to share it with you.
Explanation of the flower.
With the yellow cotton make 5 chains and close them in the circle.
1 turn: 10 single crochet.
2 lap: a single crochet with a half double crochet and a double crochet in one point, a double crochet high double crochet and a single crochet at one point. Repeat for a total of 5 times.
3 lap: change color with white cotton. A double crochet, 2 double crochet at one point, 2 triple crochet in one point for 2 times, 2 double crochet at one point, a double crochet. Turn the work.
4 lap: a double crochet, 2 double crochet at one point, 2 double crochet, 2 triple crochet in a point 2 times, 2 double crochet, 2 double crochet at one point, a double crochet. Turn the work.
5 lap: half double crochet, 2 double crochet in one point, 4 triple crochet, 2 double crochet points in a point 2 times, 4 triple crochet, 2 double crochet in one point, half double crochet. Get off with slip stitch until the beginning of the third round and make the same match for a total of five petals.
Explanation of the bud.
Start 4 chains and in the first do 5 double crochet (total 6). Turn the work.
Replicate a flower petal from the third lap up to the fifth lap. Close the work by holding the cotton a bit long.
Explanation of the pistil.
Start 5 chains and close them in circle.
1 turn: 7 chains, one single crochet. Repeat for a total of 12 arches.
Explanation of the chalice.
Start 5 chains and close them in circle.
1 turn: 9 single crochet.
2 lap: 2 double crochet at one point for 3 times. Turn the work.
3 laps: 2 double crochet closed together for the whole lap. Turn the work.
4 laps: 3 double crochet closed together. Get off with slip stitch down to the single crochet end and repeat the same for a total of 3 times.
Now cut a piece of galvanized iron wire about 15 cm and center the wrap several times of yellow cotton to form a small ball (it will be the bud point). Tighten the iron wire to lock the cotton and continue for about 6-7 cm to form a small stem. Place in order: the bud through the first 4 double crochet chain, wrap it in spiral and sew it with the semi-solid shape and then the chalice. Cover the small green cotton stem working around the chains. This will then be tied to the main stem. For the main stem, cut a piece of plastic wire of the length appropriate to the composition that is being created. On a tip wrap several times the yellow cotton (lighter than the one used for the pistil) to form a small ball, bend the tip of the stem to block the ball and thus obtain the small central pistol that will also pin to hold the all. In this stem we will put the pistil, the flower and the chalice in order, then all the buds and their leaves that will now be explained will then be laced.
Explanation of the leaf.
Start 20 chains.
1 lap: 3 single crochet, 2 half double crochet, 2 double crochet, 5 triple crochet, 2 double crochet, 2 half double crochet, 3 single crochet. Return the same as the other side of the chain.
Cut a piece of galvanized iron wire that turns 2 leaves more than 2 cm around the side and insert it into the leaf by working around the single crochet. Wrap the work well and twist 2-3 times the iron wire on it, make 2-3 chains and without cutting the cotton to make another identical leaf. Then go down with slip stitch until you reach the iron wire and work around the single crochet. The pair of leaves you get will be laced to the main stem along with a few buds. When you put it all, cover the stem with the green cotton, working around the chains once on the right and on the left of the stem (as you did for the small stem of the bud) except that piece that will be inserted into the jar.
More to say, I hope I have been clear in the explanations, and with your imagination and creativity, I have given you an extra idea.
Hi everyone to the next.
