How to crochet a Snowdrop
The cold flower also known as the
morning star is the winter flower par excellence. Bucaneve is a small maple
that blossoms in the snow and announces the arrival of spring but is also
present in the undergrowth where it seldom sands and where it creates pretty
white carpets. Symbol of purity and hope, I have enjoyed creating this
crocheted flower and now I have the pleasure to share it with you
. The flower consists of 3 petals
and a central section, from the stem
with the pistil, the chalice, a spatula that rests on the stem, the leaves and buds.
with the pistil, the chalice, a spatula that rests on the stem, the leaves and buds.
Explanation of the flower
Section of 3 petals.
Start 5 chains and close them in
circle.
1 turn: 4 points, turn the job.
2 lap: a double crochet, 2 triple crochet
in one point for 2 times, a double crochet, turn the job.
3 lap: a double crochet, a double
crochet and a triple crochet at one point, a double triple crochet and a triple
triple crochet at one point, a triple triple crochet and a double triple
crochet at one point, a triple crochet a double crochet at a point, a double
crochet.
Get off with a slip stitch to the
5 chain chain and repeat the same for a total of 3 petals.
Central section.
Start 5 chains and close them in
circle.
1 lap and 2 laps: 12 double
crochet.
3 turns: With the green cotton (a
bit lighter than the ones used for the leaves) make: a single crochet, a half double
crochet and a double crochet at one point, a double crochet and a half double
crochet at one point , 2 single crochet, a half double crochet and a double
crochet at one point, a double crochet and a half double crochet at one point,
2 single crochet, a half double crochet and a double crochet at one point, a double
crochet and a half double crochet at one point, a single crochet.
4 rounds: With white cotton, make
a round of single crochet.
Prepare the stem by cutting a
piece of plastic wire of the required length and on a tip wrap some yellow
cotton to form a small ball and help with a clamp to bend the iron wire to lock
the cotton.
You have thus obtained the small
pistil that will also make up the pin to hold the flower. Now insert the center
section into the stem and then the one with the 3 petals.
Explanation of the bud.
1 and 2 laps: 12 double crochet.
3 lap: 18 double crochet (make 6
increases).
4 laps: 2 double crochet closed
together for the whole lap (every 2 points then decrease). Now insert a piece
of plasticized wire length of the length that is needed to create the bent stem
in a tip for 2 to 3 times to form a small ball that will make up the pin.
5 lap: With a few slip stitch,
close the job.
Explanation of the chalice.
Place the cup in both the flower
stem and the bud stalk. No need to sew.
To make the chalice and the leaves
I used cotton number 10 to give a little more thickness, for the rest I used
the number 20.
Once you have prepared all the
flowers and buds, put them in the stems with their glass and cover them with
green cotton, working around the chains, once to the right once to the left of
the stem. Always leave the piece that will be inserted inside the jar.
Explanation of the spatula (I do
not know its exact name but it looks like a spatula).
Start 20 chains.
1 turn: 5 single crochet, 9 half
double crochet, 5 single crochet, equal again on the other side of the chains.
Before closing the job keep the cotton a bit long.
Cut it on the chains that cover
the stem at curvature height before the flower.
Explanation of the leaf.
The leaves are paired to 2 with
the iron wire and worked with cotton number 10 to give it more thickness.
Start 30 chains.
1 turn: 7 single crochet, 15 half
double crochet, 7 single crochet, resemble equal on the other side of the
chains. Cut a piece of galvanized iron wire that turns 2 leaves more than a few
inches more that will serve to fasten the leaves to the stem.
2 revolutions: Insert the iron
wire around the single crochet all the way around the leaf, now without cutting
the cotton to work as much as another leaf, get off with a slip stitch and also
insert the iron wire into the second leaf in a row single crochet. Close the
work and fasten the leaves to the ends of the flower stem immediately below the
chains that cover it. Same work with the buds of the buds.
Place the seedlings inside the jar
and admire your snowdrops.
I always hope to have been clear
in the explanation. Have fun creating. We feel the next, hello to everyone!
Hi, by any chance do you have a written scheme of this pattern, I found it very hard to understand the instructions (especially for the petals). Thank you very much! Roxana
RispondiEliminaHi Roxana, I did not make any pattern but only written explanations. If you can help me I made a video on my youtube channel at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eR_iq0sBm6E&t=1s
