How to crochet an Alpine aster

A small spontaneous plant from alpine pastures. 

The Alpine star with its beautiful flowers, much loved by bees, creates eye-catching colored mats. Unfortunately it is becoming increasingly rare to meet him. 

The Alpine Astro is the third flower that is part of the Alpine flower composition. 

To make the crochet Alpine Astro you need to prepare two sections of petals, two sections of pistils, the bud, the calyx and the leaves. 

Needed: cotton number 20 - 1.0 mm crochet hook - 0.45 mm galvanized iron wire - scissors - needle - plasticized iron wire - pliers.

Explanation of the first section of petals 

Start 9 chains and close them in a circle. 

1st round: 18 single crochet. 

2nd round: 8 chains and in these make 7 single crochet, 1 slip stitch. Repeat the same for a total of 18 times. 

Explanation of the second section of petals 

Start 9 chains and close them in a circle. 1st round: 18 single crochet. 2nd round: 9 chains and in these make 8 single crochet, 1 slip stitch. Repeat the same for a total of 18 times. 

Explanation of the first section of the pistil 

Start 6 chains and close them in a circle. 

1st round: 7 chain stitches, 1 slip stitch in the circle. Repeat the same for a total of 12 times. 

Explanation of the second section of the pistil 

Start 6 chains and close them in a circle. 

1st round: 8 chains, 1 slip stitch in the circle. Repeat the same for a total of 12 times. 

Explanation of the bud 

Start 4 chains and in the first make 11 double crochet (total 12). 

1st round: 2 double crochet closed together for the whole round. Cut a piece of plasticized iron wire of the appropriate length and thickness for the work being carried out. Using pliers, bend a point twice to create a knot. Insert it at the intent of the bud and close the first round. 2nd round: 2-3 slip stitch. 

Explanation of the chalice 

The cup is the same for both the flower and the bud. Start 5 chains and in the first make 14 double crochet (total 15). 

To create the stem of the flower, cut a piece of plasticized wire of the appropriate length. On one point, wrap a little cotton to create a ball. 

Using pliers, bend the tip to block the cotton. Insert the first and second sections of the pistil into the stem, the first and second sections of petals and the chalice that will be sewn immediately under the flower. Cover the stem with cotton by working the chains around it, except about 3 cm that will be inserted into the vase. 

Shape and shape the flower petals. Insert the glass into the bud (it does not need sewing) and cover the stem with the same procedure. 

Explanation of the leaf 

Start 20 chains. 

1st round: 3 single crochet, 3 half double crochet, 7 double crochet, 3 half double crochet, 3 single crochet. Repeat the same on the other side of the chains. Cut a piece of galvanized iron wire that goes around the whole leaf plus about 2-3 cm more per side and insert it by working around the low points. 

Stretch the leaf by shaping it with your hands. Twist the iron wire on itself for about 3 cm to form a small stem that will be used to insert the leaf into the vase. Make all the leaves you need for your composition. Arrange the flowers in the center of the vase with some buds and the leaves all around. 

Model everything with your hands.
