How to crochet a Bouganville
One of the most beautiful climbing plants is undoubtedly the queen of summer. La Bouganville is native to Brazil and is a symbol of welcome in many countries. This colorful and spectacular plant can embellish any wall or pergola making it the star of our admiration. To make the crochet bougainvillea, prepare the brates, the little flowers and the leaves that are of 2 different sizes.
Explanation of the bratee.
Start 15 little chains and in these do: 13 single crochet, a slip stitch in the first chain. Then make 14 little chains and in these make 13 single crochet and a slip stitch in the first chain. Repeat once again 14 little chains, 13 single crochet and a slip stitch always in the first chain.
1 lap: a single crochet, a half double crochet, a double crochet, a triple crochet, 2 triple crochet in a point for 2 times, a triple crochet, 2 double crochet, 2 half double crochet, 2 single crochet. Redo equal from the other side (on the contrary). A slip stitch in the middle of the first chain. Repeat equal a total of 3 times.
Shape with your hands, if you see that they do not hold the starched shape (much depends on the type of cotton).
Explanation of the flowers.
Start 6 little chains. Count back 3 little chains and in the third make 2 half double crochet, 2 slip stitch (one in the fourth and one in the fifth, always counting backwards). 5 chains and in the third making: 2 half double crochet, 2 slip stitch, a slip stitch in the first chain. Do the same again for a total of 3 times.
Make all the brates and small flowers you need for your bougainvillea.
Cut a piece of galvanized iron wire about 25 cm long, fold it in half and insert one tip first and then the other at the edges of the first small flower chain. Make the wire come out from underneath and twist it on itself for about 2 cm (help yourself with a pincer), this will be the small branch of union between a bractea and the other. Insert the bract in the wire with the small flower in the center and cover the branch with the green cotton working around the chains. The 25 cm iron wire is that of the bract that is at the top of the main sprig where then, one by one, will be embraced the others that however will have the wire of the length of about 12 cm. The procedure is identical for all the branches. When you fasten the following twigs together with the sprig already made by twisting the wire on both sides 3-4 times, what is more should be cut to not make too much thickness, must always remain only 2 pieces of wire iron that are those of the main sprig. For my creation I made twigs with 5 bratee and some with 3. When you have made all the groups of twigs that you need to move to prepare the stem.
Then cut a piece of plasticized wire of the length and thickness appropriate to your creation. Curve a point twice (help with a forceps) that will be the top of the stem where, at a distance of about 1 cm, the 2 pairs of medium leaves will be connected, which I now explain.
Explanation of the average leaf.
Start 20 little chains.
1 lap: one single crochet, one half double crochet, one double crochet, 7 triple crochet, 2 double crochet, 2 half double crochet, 5 single crochet. Redo equal to the other side.
2 lap: one single crochet, one half double crochet, one double crochet, 10 triple crochet (to make 3 increases), 2 double crochet, 2 high double crochet, 5 single crochet. Repeat same to the other side. Cut a piece of galvanized iron wire that makes 2 times the complete turn of the leaf plus 2 cm per side and insert it to the leaf by working around the single crochet. Tighten well and shape the leaf with your hands and twist on itself 2-3 times to stop the work. Without cutting the cotton make another identical leaf. Then redo the 20 little chains and start from the 5 single crochet. To get to the wire go down with slip stitch and insert it to the leaf by working around the single crochet. Model and close the work.
Explanation of the big leaf.
1 lap: one single crochet, one half double crochet, one double crochet, 12 triple crochet, 3 double crochet, 3 half double crochet, 8 single crochet. Repeat same to the other side in reverse.
2 lap: one single crochet, one half double crochet, one double crochet, 18 triple crochet (to make 6 increases), 3 double crochet, 3 half double crochet, 8 single crochet. Redo equal to the other side. Cut a piece of galvanized iron wire that makes the complete turn of the leaf plus another 4 cm per side and insert it to the leaf by working around the single crochet. Stretch and shape and twist the wire on itself for about one cm. Cover the small stem of the leaf with the cotton working around the chains and close the work. Make all the leaves you need.
Fasten the group of bracts in the stem and close to each group 2-3 leaves. When everything is tied and the bougainvillea branch is created, cover the stem with the cotton by working around the chains, except for those 2-3 cm that will be inserted into the vase. This if you are also creating a small map. If instead you create a single branch of bougainvillea, also bend the tip of the stem at the bottom and cover it all with cotton. To cover the top of the stem, make a small cup: make 4 little chains and make 12 points in total in the first. 1 round: 12 double crochet. Close the work by holding the cotton a bit 'long, place it on the top of the stem and sew it to it.
As always mine is just an example, you are with your imagination and inspiration of the moment to realize your creation.
I hope I have explained everything clearly and given you an idea to fill the world with flowers. Hello everyone, see you next time.
