How to crochet a Holly

In the winter months where everything is bare and gray, here is a note of color that gives us the holly with the bright green of its leaves and the bright red of its berries. A decorative plant considered magical and auspicious since ancient times and has long since become a symbol of Christmas.

To make the crochet holly it is necessary to prepare the leaves and the berries.

For the berries I used the number 20 cotton, for the leaves the number 10.
Explanation of the leaf.
Start 16 little chains. Cut about 20 cm of galvanized iron wire and insert it to the leaf by working around the first round: 4 single crochet, 2 half double crochet, 3 double crochet, 2 half double crochet, 4 single crochet. Bend the wire and on the other side of the chains repeat the same. The wire will be the rib of the leaf.

2 rounds: 2 single crochet, a half double crochet and a double crochet in one point, 2 little chains and a slip stitch (it's a pippiolino on the top of the double crochet). A double crochet and a half double crochet at one point. A single crochet. Repeat the same for the entire turn of the leaf. End the lap with the 2 single crochet.
Twist the galvanized iron wire around itself for about 2 cm and cover this small stem by working around the chains. Make 2 identical leaves. The third leaf will be the same as the others except the length of the wire which will be 28 cm. Once the chains have been made around the small stem, hold the work in place without cutting the cotton. Place the first leaf on top, join the 2 ends of the wire, twisting it on itself 3-4 times on all sides, cut off the excess of iron from the first leaf. Place the second leaf and do the same job. Combine and twist the remaining piece of iron on itself for about one cm (where it is more often to help with a pair of pliers). Cover this small shank with cotton by working around the chains. The remaining wire will be used to connect the sprig of leaves to the main stem. Shape with your hands to arrange the leaves well. Make all the branches of leaves that are needed.

Explanation of the berry.
Start 4 little chains and in the first make 9 double crochet (total 10).

1 lap: 2 double crochet closed together for the whole lap.

2 lap: 1-2 slip stitch and close the work.

Make all the berries you need. In groups of 3 or 5, sew them in the middle of the branch of 3 leaves.

Cut a piece of plasticized iron wire of the appropriate length and thickness for the work being carried out. Bend a tip twice to form a small knot (help yourself with a forceps), it will be the top of the stem. Fasten all the branches of leaves and then cover the stem with the cotton working around the chains, except those 3-4 cm that will be inserted into the vase. Work a small cuplet making: 4 little chains and in the first making 9 little chains (total 10). Close the work, place it over the knot of the stem and sew it on top.
Shape everything with your hands giving the right curvature to the leaves and arrange the stems to create a small holly seedling. Or you can also make a single branch to insert in a gift bag.

Mine is just an example that I hope I have explained to the fullest.

I wish good creation to everyone, next time. Hello.
