How to crochet a Sea lily

A spontaneous plant that grows in sandy shores that are not urbanized and cemented. The sea lily is a marvel of nature that lives in the delicate balance between land and sea. Its white flower with the background of the blue sea is perhaps the most immortalized in holiday memories.

To make the crochet sea lily it is necessary to prepare: the flower which is made up of two sections, the bud, the calyx and the leaves which are of two different sizes.

Needed: cotton number 20 - crochet 1.0mm - scissors - needle - galvanized iron wire 0.45mm - wadding - plasticized iron wire - pliers.

Explanation of the internal section

Start 4 little chains and in the first make 9 high points (total 10).

1st round: 12 double crochet.

2nd round: 15 double crochet.

Lap 3: 19 double crochet.

4th round: 24 double crochet.

5th round: 30 double crochet.

Lap 6: 37 double crochet.

Lap 7: 5 little chains and in these: 2 single crochet, 2 half double crochet, jump 2 base points, 1 slip stitch. Repeat same again. At the same point make 5 little chains and in these make 4 slip stitch. Repeat a total of 6 times. You will have 12 small petals and every 2 petals there will be a small pistil.

Shape with your hands if you need to starch the tips (much depends on the type of cotton used).

1st round: 15 double crochet.

2nd round: 24 double crochet.

3rd round: 21 little chains and in these: 5 single crochet, 5 half double crochet, 5 double crochet, 5 triple crochet, jump 3 basis points, 1 slip stitch. Repeat equal a total of 6 times.

Explanation of the glass

Start 4 little chains and in the first row make 11 double crochet (total 12).

1 lap: 9 little chains and in these: 4 single crochet, 4 single crochet, skip a base point, 1 slip stitch. Repeat equal a total of 6 times.

Shape it all with your hands and if you need to starch.

On the tips of the six small pistils of the inner section, with yellow cotton, make 4-5 stitches.

Cut a piece of plasticized iron wire of the length and thickness appropriate to the work being carried out. On a point wrap a little white cotton and using a pincer to bend it twice by blocking the cotton inside.

Insert the inner section first in the stem, then the outer section and finally the glass.

If you see that the outer petals remain too open you can give some stitches or even a needle of glue.

Cover the stem for about 5 cm with the cotton working around the chains.

Make a total of three flowers to compose a single complete flower.

Combine the stems of the three flowers and lock them by attaching a piece of wire and cover the three stems together with the cotton working around the chains around 2 cm, which will be inserted into the vase.

Explanation of the bud

With the green cotton, start 13 little chains and in these make 11 single crochet, 1 slip stitch in the first chain. Make 12 little chains and in these make 11 single crochet, 1 slip stitch  in the first chain. Repeat same again. Cotton color change (white).

1st round: 3 single crochet, 5 half double crochet, 3 single crochet. Repeat same to the other side. Repeat a total of 3 times.

Close the work by holding the cotton a little long. Join the edges of the petals with some stitches except the ends. Turn the job over.

Cut a piece of plasticized iron wire, on a bit wrap a little 'of cotton wool and lock it by twisting it twice with the help of a plier.

Insert the stem inside the bud and cover it with cotton, working around the chains, except for about 2 cm that will be inserted into the vase.

Explanation of the average leaf

Start 40 little chains.

Cut a piece of galvanized iron wire that goes around the complete chains and insert them working around 39 single crochet on one side and 39 single crochet on the other.

1st round: 19 half double crochet, 10 single crochet, 10 single crochet. Repeat same from the other side.

Tighten the leaf well and twist on itself the remaining iron wire for about 2 cm will be used to insert the leaf into the vase.

Explanation of the small leaf

The procedure is the same as the average leaf, only a few points change.

The initial chains will be 20, the single crochet around the wire will be 19 and in the first round you will work 5 half double crochet, 7 single crochet and 7 slip stitch.

Make all the leaves you need for your composition.

Place the flower in the center of the vase with some bud and all around the leaves.

Now admire your masterpiece ... it does not seem to you to smell the sea.

As always I hope I have explained everything to the best and have given you an idea more.

At the next creation.
